On 7 September 2022 IBA has organised a summer day-trip for our local BAME older women to help them tackle isolation. There was a total of 40 women on the trip, all members of the BAME community, along with 4 staff members. The journey to the seaside took 4 hours, including one stop at a service station.
The feedback for this day was incredibly positive, as many of the women who joined this day trip had not yet had a chance to go out during the summer. The were many reasons provided for this, including no access to personal vehicles, train tickets being too high, or being unable to find someone to babysit children at home. It was found that making this trip children-free provided the women a day to enjoy themselves and relax from their overwhelming daily lives.
